Bedford and Ouse Valley District is one of seven Scout Districts in Bedfordshire.
Our District has seventeen Scout Groups based in the towns of Bedford and Kempston, in satellite villages, and along the River Ouse valley.
Scouting is open to everyone, and each week 1000 young members between the ages of 6 to 18 enjoy an active programme within their Groups. There is no upper age limit for adult volunteers, and the Network section for 18-25s provides a great transition while remaining in Scouting to adulthood.
All Groups in the District gather together in Bedford for St. Georges Day parade and activities. In addition the District Camp Site at Jordans Close in Great Barford, and the County Campsite at Leslie Sell Activity Centre in Bromham, are used to base District weekend activities through the year for sections. Kite Day at Bromham, Cubs Bring a Grown-Up (BAG) Camps and Scouts Activity Weekend (SAW) Camps at Great Barford are just examples.
The facilities located within District are able to offer water sports, archery, shooting, orienteering, climbing, assault course, camp-fire and backwoods cooking, hiking and camping or dormitory overnight stay.
