On Sunday 24th April, Bedford District Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and leaders celebrated St. George’s Day with the new format event in the centre of Bedford.

The day started with all the Scout Groups across the District meeting up at Harpur Square to renew their promise before parading around St Paul’s Church and down the Embankment in front of Dave Hodgson, Mayor of Bedford.

The “fun” part of the day commenced after the parade had been dismissed, with each section having different activities and everyone completing the sponsored bridge walk.
The Beavers had a go at circus skills, face painting and a bouncy castle. The Cubs undertook a bungee run and other games. The Scouts went boating on the river, played skirt football and tried to tame the rodeo bull.

The District Explorers made sedan chairs and raced them with St. George on board.
Everyone had fun celebrating England’s national day and Scouting’s annual celebration and promise renewal.
