St. George’s Day Celebrations 2017

Date: 23rd Apr 2017 Author: Scout Websites

Celebrating St Georges Day is a tradition in Scouting and Bedford and Ouse Valley Scouts celebrated in style on Sunday 23rd April 2017 down on Mill Meadows and the Embankment in Bedford, all in the presence of the Bedford mayor, Dave Hodgson.

The event was split into 2 parts, the formal parade and the fun activities in and around the band stand by the river. The uniformed members renewed their promise before setting off on a parade from Harpur Square then along the embankment.

The fun activities consisted of a bouncy castle, circus skills and games for the Beavers and a laser inflatable and games for the cubs. The Scouts played skirt football and took on the challenge of a jousting inflatable. The explorers and network tried human table football and space hopper football.

Over 500 young people and leaders had a great afternoon of fun which was also a great advert for scouting in Bedford and the wider community.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
