Operation:BOVenture

Operation: BOVenture

What is Operation: BOVenture

It’s a weekend of fun and adventure for all sections in Bedford and Ouse Valley District.

When and where?

28 – 30th June 2024
Boyd Memorial Campsite, Henlow, SG16 6AN

Who can attend?

This event is open for all members in Bedford and Ouse Valley District Scouts. This means Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and any adults are welcome to attend.

We’d love to have all groups camping for the weekend, but we understand that getting all sections camping is quite the undertaking. We have arranged different prices to suit this. It’s up to each group to decide their own plan, if you’d like to get your Squirrels and Beavers camping you can, or you can just have them visit for the day.

Costs – for Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers

Full Weekend

£40 Arrive Friday evening Leave Sunday early afternoon
Day Visitor £35 Arrive Saturday morning Leave Saturday evening

*There is not a Sunday day visitor option

Costs – for Adults/Leaders/Network

Free – there is no cost for the adults as without them our young people cannot attend.
We do still require you to book your adults so we know numbers and who is onsite, but there will be no cost.

What does this cover?

This covers all of the activities, facilities and camping for this event.

What else is needed?

This cost does not include any group or section costs including food. As a group you will need to decide the full cost for your members to cover any food or sundries required.

Can you support?

We have a small team working to make this event happen looking at logistics, funding and activities. Let us know if you’d be interested in helping in some capacity outside of bringing your group to this event.

We also require support from groups on the weekend to make some of the activities run. We will be asking for each group to provide some adults and asking groups to each provide an activity to run. Start thinking about what you might be able to make happen – do you have a mini archery set, or perhaps some bottle rockets you could run as an activity for others to come along and take part in? We’ll be asking groups to let us know what they’ll be able to make happen.

What next?

To be able to start turning plans into reality we need deposits from each group to be able to start booking in exciting activities. Share details of this event with your group, get word out to parents and carers and start getting numbers.

We will be asking Group Scout Leaders or nominated organisers for your group for deposits of £20 per person in December to start to confirm numbers.

More information will be sent in the lead up to the event, including a leaders meeting in Spring 2024 to cover further information and answer any questions.

Any questions

If you have any questions now, please contact us and we will use these to update this page to hope to cover anything you may need to know.

Keep in touch:

We want to keep leaders updated as much as possible on the preparations. Emails to leaders will come out like this when details are available, which will go out to all Leaders within our District. If someone is not receiving these, please update your email within your Compass record (or drop us an email).
