Donated to the district in 1967 by Dorothy Seward, in the village of Great Barford, Jordans Close offers just under 2 acres of camping field, with access to the River Great Ouse. Featuring a small HQ building with large kitchen and separately located toilets and showers, the site has space for approx 100 campers in a single large party - or several smaller groups. With great access to the pathways along the river it makes a great site for expedition camps.
Activities available onsite include
Archery
Rifle Shooting
Tomahawk Throwing
Blind Trail
Canoeing & Kayaking
Rafting
Pioneering
All our instructors are local volunteers - the site may not be able to provide an instructor, so please book well in advance.
For water activities, the river is classified as B1 - however this should be assessed on the day as the river level varies. There are 2 access points to the river via a slipway onsite which is located below the weir, or another slipway is available further up a footpath above the weir.
Up to date info on water quality is available from Bedfordshire Great Ouse Valley Environmental Trust.
